A song about the first communist leader of Romania from 1947 to 1965, Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej. Despite leading the country for nearly 20 years, he is often far overshadowed by his successor, Nicolae Ceaușescu. After Gheorghiu-Dej's death, large changes were made, with the country being renamed from the Romanian People's Republic to the Socialist Republic of Romania and the Romanian Workers' Party being renamed to the Romanian Communist Party. The internal borders of Romanian provinces were also redrawn, with regions being replaced with counties and the Magyar Autonomous Region being dissolved. Eventually the national anthem would also be changed after 12 years of using the Gheorghiu-Dej era anthem without words.
