Following the Russian Revolution, variants of "The Marseillaise" came to be sung all over the former Russian Empire, with the "Worker's Marseillaise" and "Russian Marseillaise" being among the most popular within Russia proper. Meanwhile, Ukrainians used this version, which is a more direct translation of the original French song.
